Ronan hadn’t gotten far before hearing the sound of footprints behind him. Lifting his muzzle into the air, he sniffed the femme’s distinct scent close behind him. Ro’s lip began to curl into a silent warning, turning his piercing glare behind him in search of whomever decided to stalk him. He had only just met these two canines, and didn’t trust them from a hole in the wall. That was just second nature for him though, and not meant to offend either of the two. Auds pricking at the sound of a snarl, Ronan whirled around and gave off a defensive stance. Lowering his head, and setting his paws equal lengths apart Ronan was prepared as he saw the white beauty send her wail up to the skies.
Keeping his eyes on Kayi, watching as she turned and their eyes met; the pain he could see behind them was palpable. Before he knew it she was rumbling after him, and ended up on top of him. The ability to throw her off was feasible, but not desired. He heard her snarls, but knew the passion behind them was halfhearted. She wants me to stay? The brute thought to himself. Tilting his cranium slightly to the left, Ronan let out a short chuckle. The effort she was putting into keeping him within her grips, literally and figuratively, was heartwarming. ”You want me to stay?” Ronan let slip past his thin lips, his voice coming out small and feeble.
Eowyn had slipped past his senses until he heard his voice. Looking past Kayi and seeing the brute, Ronan could taste the envy that rang in his tone. Eyes met back with Kayi’s for a split second before the powerful brute shifted all his weight towards the left, twisting himself to roll out from under the female, yet keeping her in his grasp. Peering down at the now belly-up white vixen, Ronan gave his malevolent handsome grin and threw her a playful snarl as well. Taking one of her ears delicately in between his teeth and tugging slightly, the obsidian boy attempted to imitate in the playful actions that he had witnessed.
”I’ll stay under one condition.” Ronan chuffed, backing off of the female, and sitting back against his haunches. Sapphire orbs scanned the faces of the other two wolves before him, searching for any reaction. ”I refuse to follow behind anyone; taking orders, and doing as I'm told. I'd much prefer traveling alone to anything of that sort.” Speaking clearly, and blatantly Ronan eyes Eowyn with a type of disdain. It wasn’t that he had a problem with the brute; he just was slightly offended of his expectancies. What was I to do? Roll over and take orders from someone I have only just met? Many apologies, but that is not what destiny asks of me.
Kayi huffed as Ro rolled her over on her belly. Yes he was bigger, and damn her some-what smaller stature. That frustration soon went away as soon as she saw his playful banter and snarl. Before she knew it, he had taken her ear in-between his teeth, biting down gently. Oh, this was how he played. Kayi gave out a playful yelp, and batted Ro gently on the head. As soon as he started playing, he withdrew a few feet from her. She felt empty without him, but was able to move now. She soon found herself rolling on the soft, moist ground to get on all four paws. As soon as she was on four paws, Kayi shook herself off smirking as once again the water droplets landed on both brutes. Frankly, she could tell that the two brutes were on odds. It was evident to see in both their body languages. Kayi shook her head. Typical males, always have to figure out who is in "lead."
As seconds passed, Kayi watched the two brutes stare each other down. Ronan was glaring at Eowyn still and it was apparent that a choice had to be made when Kayi heard Ronan exclaim that he staying. She felt a flash of joy, and her tail started to wag hitting the ground again and again. Kayi felt herself give a wolfy smile then huffed at him talking about him being leader and taking no orders. Kayi sighed with exasperation but didn't say anything. It wasn't her choice to decide who was what. As the only female in the group, she didn't have to contend with anyone to be the Alpha female. As the two males stared each other down, her fur bristled and she readied her muscles to step back if need be. She had seen brutes fight over less and this was a big enough deal to warren a response on both sides. There was a primal urge in her that she wanted to push aside that made her want to see who was the strongest and who won. Shaking her bristled fur, she brushed aside that urge and looked on at the two males. Eowyn was kind of heart and showed that. She just hoped it wouldn't hurt him in the mean time. Ronan was the opposite, his dark side getting him into trouble. From what she observed, he wasn't used to the idea of other wolves, and the common behavior. Maybe underneath all the front, their was a pain, a pain that wouldn't go away. Eowyn had accepted that pain and had moved on. Acceptance was good, but how hard would it be to visit the land that your family had once lived, and died on? Did he really want to live here? Her thoughts cleared as the tension of the situation hit her again, and made her fur rise. "We don't need to decide no a Alpha right now, but it seems that the tension needs to be addressed. If we are staying together, it can't be like this with Ronan runnning off and you two straining that atmosphere. So, right now decide. Figure out what you want to do because without a strong front, we are weaker as a whole."

Wyn had to struggle to smother the mirth that filled him, a glint that gleamed in his eye brightened. Oh, the silly midnight brute. He had never expected him to bow down to him, to obey him. No. Certainly not. How could he? After all, he had barely met him, though he thought his talents would certainly be more than be a welcome addition to a pack. With little knowledge of the dark one, he had no problem surmising such, for his clear mind picked for it, the best of each situation. Shaking his head he looked over Ro, his gaze both open and secretive, his maw parting before he brought words forth. “Of course not. Did I ever say I expected such from you?” His head tilted, his words a soft, rumbling in his chest. It… amused him that Ro had automatically leapt to such a conclusion. After all, he was perfectly willing to fight to debate who would lead. After all, there were only two of them. It would certainly be beneficial for one to lead and the other to follow, for a dual leadership would provide a difficult basis for a pack. But it wouldn’t be something they decided without time and patience, that much he knew. Setting up a pack hierarchy took time. It was something that would develop the longer they knew each other. Looking over the dove he inclined his head, wondering if the situation would be acceptable for her, since she had never said she would stay. Travelling was in their blood, but so was family, and to the orphaned brute family was perhaps the most important out of all of the things he had come to value. Turning his gaze to Kayi he offered her a small smile, turning to Ro, a calming breath shuddered through his frame before he spoke. “It is my belief that the best course of action is to live together a group for a time before it will be possible to determine who is Alpha. I would like to propose the following terms.” Though his words were quiet, they carried a hint of command, “It is my belief that after a period of two moons of remaining together that the issue of leadership is to be resolved. It shall either be decided through the traditional battle or through feats that prove that a pack would fall under the leadership of one or the other. I also would like to propose that during the two moons, that it is in the best interest of a future pack that our goals should not be to best one another, but to become friends and allies.” Taking a deep breath he turned to Kayi, gazing at her quietly for a moment before he opened his maw again. “There is, of course, another option, Kayi.”
The hostility in the air was obvious, and relevant. Eowyn had spoke of starting a family with Kayi, and had called the land they stood on his own. That warranted the response that was given from Ronan. In his mind, Eowyn’s claim of ownership was his claim to authority. Perhaps he had assumed his wishes, rather then attempting to seek them out. This was outside of Ro's comfort-zone, after all.
All Ronan knew was himself, and fending for himself had become natural. Never before had he relied on another wolf, other than his mother during his short year as a puppy. Even she had let him down, abandoning him in the dead of winter... Isolated to a small den, and his thoughts. Ronan doesn’t hold it against his mother; she had priorities of her own. He just has found it virtually impossible to trust anyone since that time.
Hearing the two ivory wolves before him speak of truce, and friendship Ronan allowed a chuckle to escape from his throat. ”This is your land, sir. I do not wish to challenge you for rights to that. I just wish to live my life as my own superior. I’m not meant to be subordinate, my apologies if that mars any of your plans.” Ronan spoke with great fluidity. His rumbling vocals rang of a nonchalant, and precise eminence.
Taking a moment to stand and shake his obsidian pelage, Ronan peered over at Kayi with a mischievous gleam in his eye. ”Let her choose.” Ro chuffed, another chuckle escaping the brute as he sauntered slowly over to Kayi, permitting his azure orbs to caress her entire form. Inhaling deeply, her fragrant scent absorbing him. Ronan flashed an amiable smile, his entire face lighting up as he stared at her. ”Seems fair to me.”
Decide? Why should she decide? Why now? Kayi looked from side to side at both of the brutes and indecision filled her. She had just met them! Why must she choose? Kayi didn't want either of them to leave. With the azure eyes staring deep into hers, it was easy to pick. Their was a strong spirit in Ronan and she admired that, she needed it. Eowyn was kind, if not to kind. He would suit another femme much better than her. Her strict nature, and abrupt nature would only cause problems. As for the Alpha, both were good in her opinion. Eowyn knew what family was, knew these lands and was kind hearted. Key aspects to becoming a leader. However, Ronan was couragous to the point that he would do anything it seemed to protect the pact. Eowyn was so attatched the land, that we wouldn't be able to leave them. Ronan understand her darker side and knew well about her traveling spirit. For one, Kayi didn't see Eowyn as a mate, only has a great pack member to rely on to have her fur. With a sigh, Kayi spoke up: "Well, both of you asked me to choose, and choose I will do. Ronan, I would love for you to lead us. Your skills and expertise will benefit the pack. There is a loyal nature that I can tell that is in you, and I see you as a mate that I can walk paw to paw with. You understand my darker side, and my wandering nature. I can see that you would do anything for the pack." Kayi bowed down, wagging her tail as she licked the underside of Ronan's jaw acknowledging him as leader and alpha. She then looked at Eowyn in worry as she walked over and ran her body against his. She stood there for a few seconds looking into his eyes. Hoping he saw the sorry in there, and the emotions. Something just told her that there was another meant for Eowyn, and she wasn't it. After staring into his eyes, Kayi turned around and walked back to Ronan. She sank down to her stomach and then flipped on her back, showing submission to the new Alpha. Kayi wagged her tail, moving her body around. Leaning up a bit, she nudged him, and then went back down to a submissive posture. Eventually she allowed herself to roll over and laid there watching the two brutes with trepidation at what would come out of this choice she had to make.
(Oh, little birdie told me that Eowyn does have a little vixen coming up to impress. hehe)
It was clear, as Kayi spoke that his meaning had been misconstrued, that the fae didn’t understand at all what he was saying. He hadn’t meant for her to choose now, but what was done was done. Frustrated that he hadn’t had the chance to prove himself, or for him to even see if Ronan was even worthy of being Alpha. The black wolf was too alone, too distinct that he wondered if his actions would be more for himself than the good of the pack.
Wyn spoke softly, “We didn’t mean to choose now, Kayi, but in two months. It is not right to make a choice without really knowing either of the candidates. To choose now would be to pick based on an instinct that may prove detrimental to the whole. If, in two moons time you still feel as if Ro is the better choice, than Ro shall be the Alpha.” He met her gaze, solemnly, “But until then, there shall be no one to rule.”
Tilting his head to Ro he waited for the drake to make a reply, hoping against hope that the other would agree with him. It had been clear that Kayi hadn’t understood, and that made him sad, for he didn’t want to be automatically put out of the running. She didn’t even mention him… It made him sad, disappointed even. He wasn’t even given a choice if she made the choice now. She just picked, and he wasn’t even sure if she had really thought through her decision, at least not thoroughly.
Annoyed and disappointed by the swiftness of her decision and her perhaps blatant disregard for the terms both he and Ro had just agreed to, Wyn took a moment to collect himself. She had picked based on who she wanted as a mate, not based on logic for who would be better a blossoming pack. It wasn’t even given that she would be the Alpha female. How could she pick based on just that. It annoyed him, and he looked at her and wondered just what sort of logic it was to base a choice that would affect the future of the pack based on who she thought was a better possible mate. Considering Ro hadn’t even made a motion to ask her to be his mate.
Darkness overcame as two adolescents sat towards the back of the den they had for so long called home. Colorless slush came down in flurries beyond the gaping entrance, and a glacial breeze entered remorselessly. The ebony pup wrapped his small frame around the trembling silhouette of his sibling. Sapphire pools glazed over with fear, and the miniscule lad nuzzled the tawny visage of his only remaining family. ”I’ll keep you safe, Lyla. Just try to stay awake,” The boy cooed, his tone etched with despair as it was obvious that he knew not what to do.
Loneliness seemed a fate colder than the weather that threatened them both at this time. Soft whimpers could be heard from beneath him as he watched the rise and fall of Lyla’s flank slow, and then eventually cease; her petite figure seeming to grow even more frigid and stiff as time went by. Ronan rested his snout on the crown of his now deceased sister, his ice blue eyes staring emotionlessly into the distance. The moisture that seemed to escape from his orbs immediately froze, lingering on his cheek as an icy reminder of how vulnerable he really was.
Shaking his cranium in self-disgust, Ronan tried to shove the memory out of existence. If I couldn’t even save her… what makes me think I could save them? The thought echoed inside his mind as he listed to Kayi’s speech. Obsidian auds perked in her direction as all hope and contentment melted from his palette. Hearing of another vixen willing to put her life in his hands made Ronan’s stomach drop. ”Kayi, I agree with Eowyn. I think waiting would be in everyone’s favor. We need to get acquainted to the idea of running together before we can appoint anyone a leader.”
For a split second, Ronan could’ve sworn the alabaster princess in front of him was his sweet Lyla. The licking at his muzzle was an action she had always performed. A sensation of sentimental emotion washed over the obsidian brute. ”I do appreciate your words though, Kayi.” Soft tone cooed from beyond Ronan’s maw, a distant smile worn on his handsome visage. Taking a few steps in the direction of the beautiful maiden, the gentleman placed his snout to hers with a tender nuzzle.
Sitting back against his muscular hind-legs, Ronan sent a warm look over at Eowyn. ”Where do we begin?” The lupe asked, questioning tone laced with respect as he kept his crown and plume neutral.
Kayi blushed as realized her mistake, and covered it up by licking at your ruffled her fur. She took a quick look up and saw both brutes looking at her still. She narrowed her eyes at them and let out a low growl that came deep from her chest.
"It was an honest mistake, I didn't know what you where implying or what you were talking about. I am still young and haven't had much training when it comes to this stuff. My brother was trained in this, and rest of us had free rein. Now we need to find shelter before it starts to rain and get's dark. Or should we head on?"
As soon as the words left her maw, she felt the raindrops land on her fur. She shook off her fur, smirking when the water landed on both brutes. She knew it wasn't their fault for looking like a fool, but still... Kayi stood up and looked at both brutes with narrowed eyes, still on edge with the humiliation towards Ronan that she had experienced. She had acted like a love-sick fool, and she needed to grow up. Yes she was young, but she was maturing into a young vital female. What would happen when the time came when she wanted pups, or at least her body wanted some? Oh well, she would get to that fact when it happened. She had seen it happen in her family when her mother came into her time. Her father had been snippy towards every strange male that had even come close to the territory. Kayi shrugged and brought herself to the present.
"Anyone around here knows where to go? It's getting dark and we need to find shelter. I am tired of running after you pups, and dealing with the problems that associate with all the whole testosterone in the air."
Kayi grumpily stood under a tree and glared at the two boys grumpily. Not only had she made a fool of herself, she now was getting her fur wet. She hated getting wet when she didn't have to, she wasn't a fish! Kayi found herself at least wanting to have fun with the brutes, and get a bit of payback for Ronan being so secluded, not able to love. Kayi made sure she caught Ronan's graze and softened her vixen gaze. Walking towards him, she held her tail low and made sure to never take her gaze off of him. As soon as she got close enoughKayi brushed her fur up against his and ran her tail upunder his maw. She nibbled at his ear as she softly whined. When he was distracted enough, she pounced on him pinning him down as she growled at him, her canines showing as she grumpily glared at him, her teeth mere inches from his throat. She left Ronan where he laid and stalked over to Eowyn a growl emittingfrom deep in her chest. She raised her tail high and put her head over his. Kayi left him alone when she felt he got the message. Stalking off, now with wet fur, she sat in the shadows watching the brutes with a grumpy look, waiting for them to make their move. She was tired of sitting here like domestic dogs that listened to two legs.
As words poured forth from the brute, perhaps the most he had spoken then entire time that Wyn had been in his acquaintance, the white wolf found himself intrigued by him. A power-hungry greedy wolf would have snapped up the opportunity. Perhaps there was much more to Ro than he had expected. It was something certainly to think about. Accepting Kayi’s apology came naturally to him. It took more than the slight incline of his dome for him to acknowledge. He had meant no hurt feelings, no bad blood for his gentle corrections.
As the rain started to fall from the heavens, the white wolf found that it was something that he could control. If only so far. When she pressed her head over him, when he was forced to lower himself to her, however slightly, he did what he could to pull the water away from her pelt. He was already dry, and he enjoyed the state caused by his powers. As she moved away from him he found himself losing his grip on the control over the water about her pretty person. “Kayi, come back.” Murmuring this he moved closer to Ro, “Don’t be afraid, I won’t hurt you.” Though his words sounded foolish, he knew that Ro would understand, at least in part. He intended to keep the others dry, however much strain it would put on him, he did not know. But if he could bring them to the den he had in his youth, it would be all the better.
“I know where we need to go, and how we need to get there, but I don’t know how well I can keep the rain off all of us. Looking up he could see where the rain was being repelled. The initial drops had landed upon the brute bouncing off as gently as they had fallen. It wasn’t anything unusual for him, though he had never tried to stretch his abilities as far as he was going to now. “It would be best if you remain close, I don’t know how easily I can manage this for the length of time it will take to reach the place of which I know. His gaze fell upon Kai, upon the anklets gracing her, and he found himself willing the pieces closes. In a lull in the wind he saw the pendant on her front left ankle reach towards him. Starting backwards his eyes opening wide he shook his head.
It was impossible, that’s what. He knew his powers, knew his limitations. And now, was he developing new ones? Or finding them, the powers that had been hidden beneath his most overwhelming powers of ice and water. It was certainly something that he intended to explore, and he focused his gaze on a small pebble at his paws. Glaring down at it, perhaps a little too forcefully, the brute willed the pebble to rise. It appeared that his thoughts contained much more force the necessary for in an instant he felt the pebble leap off the ground, striking him in the chin before landing again at his paws. That was certainly new, confusing perhaps. Wrinkling his nose he wished he could reach the sore spot under his chin, for it left stars in his eyes, but he could not. Maybe next time it would be better to find something smaller, something less likely to hurt him. Focusing at a blade of grass he willed it to snap, to move towards him. It took more focus than the rock, but it came fluttering towards him. Unaware that he had let the rain start to fall on Ro again, he shook his head amused. Casting his gaze over the other brute he realized his mistake and tilted his head, “Sorry.” Focusing again he waited for Kayi to join them before he set off to bring them to the den he had grown up in.
Orbs the shade of beautiful morning sky, pelt the hue of the darkest of midnights. Ronan was quite the sight to see, muscular physique and handsome muzzle marred by none. Why, of course Kayi had reacted in the way she had. His mysterious personality, and seemingly act of “hard to get” was something attractive to the young vixen. A clever grin presented itself upon his palatte as he heard the lass speak.
“Kayi, it’s quite alright.” Smooth words flowed from Ronan’s larynx as he didn’t even give a second thought to her advances. They were both young still, and he knew she meant no harm. Assuming she was embarrassed by the actions, Ronan braced himself as she approached. When she attempted to pin him to the ground, he swiftly avoided her by taking a few steps back. Throwing his rump in the air, thick plume wagging playfully, Ro gave out a shrill yelp. Her pouting face was endearing, and he wanted to cheer her up.
As the skies opened and unleashed their wicked wrath upon all the creatures that dwelled below, crashing lightening could be heard in the West. Ronan was not very fond of inclement weather, and his entire form tensed as soon as the booming began. Watching as she prowled off in a huff, the brute regulated his stance and pondered where she was off to. The only one that knew the area was Wyn, and he hadn’t directed her in any way. That was when he heard the first crackles of thunder in the too-near distance. Soft growls escaped his maw, and the tip of his nose wrinkled in dismay.
The obsidian-pelted brute was expecting to be doused in the chilling liquid that poured from above, but as he watched Eowyn come forth, Ronan tilted his head with a perplexed expression. The droplets seemed to fall from his form, as if a force field was surrounded him. In an odd way this made him trust Eowyn, and allow his strides to be accepted. The low growls could still be heard reverberating deep within Ronan’s throat, but they were not directed at the pure one before him.
He knows where to go. The words were music to Ronan’s furry ears as he followed closely behind Eowyn.
