aspen forest
A massive aspen forest covers almost the entirety of Arkane, filled with a mix of flora and fauna. Prey is in abundance and the majority of wolvenkind makes their home here. The undergrowth is scattered and the lands rise steeply to the south, giving way to hilly terrain. To the north lies a small beach, nestled between large cliffs and protected from storms by the numerous rocks that jut from the sea. Nestled in the heart of the aspen forest lies a glimmering lake, called Clearwater by the wolves who frequent it. Once home to the strongest of the packs, it has now been given up to loners who use the pack's old resting spots as their own. For those with the skill, a few smooth-topped stones stand in the shallows, perfect for fishing upon.
A day's trot away from Lake Clearwater stands an oak sapling, alone in a clearing of thick, high grass. Field mice and rabbits are often found to forage in the field here, watched over by the young tree.

forgotten ruins
To the west of the aspen forest lies ruins leftover from mankind's last attempt to gain a foothold in Arkane. Ancient and crumbling buildings dot the bare, patchy earth here, shadowed by the mounain range that curves along the western coast of the island. Those who travel here should find shelter in these long-forgotten relics. The night air is chilly, and ghosts cry out in the hours before dawn. Beyond the ruins stands the Arkanian Chain. These tall mountains are inhabited mostly by wolves exiled from their packs for committing terrible deeds. The air is thin here and the winds cold, piercing even the thickest of pelts. Large cats prowl the rocky ledges and what prey can be found here is fleet-footed. To survive here, one would have to possess great skill.
Should a wolf manage to travel over the mountains, they will find themself at a small, ragged coast surrounded by jagged peaks. The wreckage of ships can be seen out at sea, and the day is always dreary and foggy on the other side of the impassable mountains.

rocky coastline
To the east of the aspen forest lies a rocky coastline frequented by fisher-wolves. With gentle, rolling green hills and several rivers that flow out into the ocean, this place could almost be called paradise. Scavengers are the only worry here, as the carcasses of sea creatures are often washed ashore and fed upon by every vulture in the area. A bit further inland can be found an orchard of various fruit trees, most likely a remnant of mankind's brief stay upon the island. The grass here is overgrown and small woodland creatures are quick to venture from their homes when ripened fruit hits the ground. The air is constantly filled with a sickly sweet scent and wolves must be careful not to be lulled into a false sense of security.
Finally, separating the orchard from the aspen forest, is a large meadow, choked with weeds and grass that reaches above a wolf's head. A few trees jut out bravely from the sea of golden-blended-green and a small pond is situated beside a dead ash tree where wolves may rest and drink.
